Is your garbage disposal clogged, clogged, leaking or not draining? If your garbage disposal is not functioning properly, read on. This comprehensive waste disposal troubleshooting guide will help you diagnose and correct problems quickly.
Did you know that garbage disposal has a reset button that will restore it from being overloaded?
To repair non-functional waste disposal:
1. Press the reset button at the bottom of the deletion and try again.
2. Make sure your cable is connected to a working electrical outlet or the cable to the electrical box. If necessary, restart the circuit breaker that supplies electrical power.
3. To eliminate jams, insert a 1/4 inch hex wrench into the hexagonal hole at the bottom of the garbage disposal and turn several directions several times to release the impeller.
4. If you don't have a hex wrench, turn off the electricity, place the short broom stick in the trash, push it down into one of the blades, and try turning the propeller forward and backwards to clear the jam.
You will find more details about the steps below.
Do not try to eliminate if it sounds but it is not ground, it can burn the motorbike.
How it works garbage disposal
As shown in the diagram here, the crusher inside the unit breaks down the food, and then the drive arm and plate remove liquid and particles from the drain.
This unit also has a dishwasher inlet that is connected to the dishwasher drain hose. With this, water from the dishwasher can flow through garbage disposal, allowing the unit to chew large particles before they enter the drain pipe.
Disconnect or turn off the electrical circuit that feeds your garbage before making repairs.

Troubleshooting Garbage Disposal Problems
To determine the fastest and easiest way to improve your waste disposal, you need to find out what the problem is. In most cases, the symptoms will tell you what to attack first.
If garbage disposal does nothing, which means it does not even hum, it is likely that the problem is not receiving energy.
This usually means:
The excess garbage disposal circuit has turned it off, or
An electric circuit that serves to eliminate waste is turned off.
To overcome this, see Waste Disposal does not work, there is no noise, below.
If the garbage disposal buzzes but is not ground when turned on, turn it off. Something stuck inside. Watch the trash removal bell or you stagnate below.
If the engine unit works, but does not grind properly, there might be something wrong with the blade. See the wrong waste milling, below.
If waste is not drained or waste water is returned to its place through the sewer, the problem is usually in the sewerage, not in the waste unit. For more information, see Clogged discharge, no drainage.
If the garbage disposal leaks into the base cabinet, you must determine where the leak came from. First, look for droplets from the pipe (especially on the joint) in the area under the sink. If a leak drips from the bottom of the garbage disposal body, see Waste Disposal Leakage, below.
Now, now that you have identified the symptoms, let's take a closer look at each of these problems and how to solve them.
Removal of garbage does not work, there is no sound
If garbage disposal does nothing, that is, it does not emit a buzz or make a sound, it is likely that it does not receive power.
Look for the delete trash removal button at the bottom of the deletion and press this reset button. This simple touch might be all that is needed to make it work again.
If that doesn't work, determine whether your waste is plugged into an electrical outlet under the sink or if the cable (directly connected) to the electrical box is there.
If your release is a type of plug-in, unplug the plug from the electrical outlet and test the outlet with another device, such as a hair dryer. If the outlet does not work with another device, open the circuit breaker panel and reset the circuit breaker used for elimination. This switch is often found on the same circuit with a dishwasher. Restore it completely and then turn it back on.
If your waste is transferred to an electrical box, go directly to the circuit breaker panel and reset the switch in the same way.
Garbage disposal or jam
You will know that your release is jammed or blocked when the motor is humming, but the release is not milled, too noisy, or executed and then stops before turning it off. Do not continue to run waste when it is stuck, because this can burn the motor.
When stuck, elimination will usually be drained.
Congestion is often caused by a piece of bone, a fruit hole or something similar sandwiched between the drive blade and the drain hole.
Be sure to pull out the waste or turn off the electrical circuit that feeds it before making repairs.
If the motorbike has been burned, you must replace the release. You can easily buy new memos online. Please refer to the HomeTips Waste Disposition Purchase Guide.
To delete a jammed layout:
1 Unplug the unit or turn off the circuit breaker that serves it.
2 Under the sink, see the bottom of the arrangement for the hexagonal shape hole. If you see it, look for a hex 1/4 inch wrench that matches the hole (often there is one attached to the release).
Place the hex key in the hole and force it back and forth several times to release the impeller. (Note: some models have investments
switch the same action.)
3 If your release does not have a hexagonal hole or you cannot find a hexagonal wrench, place a short broom on the release (with power cut off!), Press into one of the blades and try turning the propeller and back and forth.

4 If something has been placed in a dump that you should not have, such as metal, rubber, glass, or fibrous food scraps such as artichoke leaves or banana peels, use tweezers or pliers to remove the material. Never use your hands.
5 You may need to remove deletions to eliminate jams. In some situations, this is easier to do than it seems.
The following is a very useful video that shows basic techniques for simple repairs and, if necessary, how to eliminate deletions.
Bad waste milling
If your mill is not good, make sure you use enough water when operating the unit and that you are not grinding the ingredients you should not.
If you can hear garbage disposal operations but don't grind, the blades can break.
Usually, it is not feasible to try to repair damaged garbage disposal. In general, it is easier and cheaper to replace all units. See How to install garbage disposal.
Elimination of clogged garbage, without drainage
When there is water in the sink, it means that the drains are clogged in the canal or further down the drain.
This is not a garbage disposal problem, this is a plumbing problem. You may have to disassemble the drain tube under the sink and clean the obstacles. See repairs for sinking and drainage barriers.
Here is a video that shows how to unplug the drain pipe from the garbage disposal:

Waste disposal leaks
If you see a leak under the discharge of a pipe or, more likely, a pipe connection, look for a source of leakage and tighten the offensive connection.
If elimination leaks when passing through the sink, replace the drain gasket or unit mounting screw. For more information about this, see How to install a trash can.
If the unit is too noisy, check if something is entering the unit that should not do it.
If everything is clear, the engine, impeller or shredder may light up. In general, it is cheaper, faster and smarter to replace all units.
You can buy new settings quickly and easily on the internet. Please read the Guide to Purchase Waste.
How much does it cost to repair garbage disposal?
The good news is that you can handle most of the repairs yourself.
Then, again, if your garbage disposal cannot be repaired, you can replace it with new garbage disposal as described in our article, How to install garbage disposal.
The new waste disposal unit will cost between $ 50 and $ 350, depending on the model.
If you want to hire a plumber or install small equipment to install garbage disposal, first do your homework to decide on the right model. Make sure you get a replacement that is in accordance with the conditions of the existing sink.
For more information about this, see the Guide to Purchasing Waste Garbage.
The labor costs for installing landfills will depend on the tariffs in your area. The image will take up to 2 to 3 hours for the installer. Request a quote before hiring a plumber or installing small equipment.

Basic Treatment of Waste Disposal
Garbage disposal works best if you follow these basic rules:
• Use cold water when grinding food (hot water can melt fat and clog mechanisms and pipes)
• Don't overfill
• Do not pour bleach, drain cleaners or other chemicals into the unit
• Do not grind too much fibrous material, bone or coffee beans (see owner's manual) or materials such as glass, metal or rubber
• Run water before and after using waste. If something has been placed that should not have been removed, use pliers or pliers to remove the material. Never use your hands. To clean up the accumulated sludge and debris, fill with ice cubes and a cup of rock salt then run for about five seconds. If your garbage disposal smells bad, you can remove the odor with warm water while grinding the lemon pieces into four parts.
