Two health care systems serving New York and Connecticut residents will join forces to create new innovative health systems.
Health Quest Systems Inc. and the Western Connecticut Health Network signed an agreement to create a new health system to provide members of the community throughout the Hudson Valley in New York and western Connecticut with more comfortable, accessible and affordable treatments. affordable
Health Quest is a system of four hospitals based in LaGrangeville, New York. The Western Connecticut Health Network is based in Danbury, Connecticut, and includes three hospitals. The combined system will serve 1.5 million people in two states and will cover seven hospitals, in addition to 2,600 harmonized doctors and more than 12,000 employees in ongoing care. The combined projected revenue from the system is $ 2.4 billion.
"By sharing similar missions and values, our organization unites to create an expanded and patient-centered health system that accelerates the shift from health care to health care," said John Murphy, MD, president and CEO of Western Connecticut. Health Network "We will continue to be the pillar of our community dedicated to providing high-quality loving care, and we will have the depth, breadth and talent to improve the health and well-being of the people we serve."
"By joining, we will expand our reach and improve our position in today's consumer-driven environment, helping people optimize their health, prevent disease and control chronic diseases," said Robert Friedberg, president and CEO of Health Quest. "The combined health system will help bring new programs and services to our community."
As usual, the combination of these two systems requires the approval of several government entities. After receiving all the necessary approvals, it is hoped that the new organization will be launched around 2019. Until then, both organizations will continue to operate as independent entities. For now, systems and hospitals will retain their names and the company's offices will remain in Connecticut and New York.
After being approved, Murphy will function as the CEO of the newly joined organization and Friedberg will serve as president. The new board of directors of the system will have the same representatives: eight members of the Health Quest board and eight members of the board of directors of the West Connecticut Health Network.
The new system will continue to be a non-profit organization and will continue its commitment to the health and well-being of the people and, most importantly, will continue to provide care to anyone who passes through their doors, regardless of their ability to pay.
In addition, it is hoped that the combined system can improve quality, population health, responsible care, telehealth, medical education and the use of data analysis to improve patient outcomes.
"This new network will help maintain our commitment to providing affordable and quality care that people need in places they can easily access. For our patients, that means greater access to specialists and treatment options, close to home. "Over time, new programs and services will be introduced and new specialists will be recruited to ensure that members of our community have the necessary services and do not need to leave the area to receive medical treatment," Murphy said.
"As a non-profit organization, we will continue to reinvest in our systems to fund new clinical programs and services, facilities, advanced technology, equipment and new research, all for the benefit of our community," Friedberg said.
Once combined, the new system will include seven hospitals:
