The skin is the largest organ in the body. It defends against diseases and infections, regulates temperature and even helps in the production of vitamins. Keeping skin healthy is very important for beauty and overall health, even if most of us are interested in knowing how to keep the skin healthy, instead of keeping it healthy.
The best way to keep skin looking healthy (young, clear, radiant, supple, smooth and free of wrinkles) is to stay away from the sun.
Sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays produce healthy-looking tan, but they damage the skin a lot in terms of pigmentation, sunburn and loss of elasticity. This can cause premature aging in the form of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging, dark skin, irregular skin color, loss of translucency, enlarged pores and dryness. Even the best of genetics, topical skin lightening treatments and oral skin supplements will be of little use if someone is merciless and regular.
Avoiding the sun helps, but if you can't avoid it, you should make sure to use sunscreen. This is very important if exposure to sunlight for a long time.
Assuming that someone is sensitive to sun exposure, how can we improve the condition of our skin? We know that certain oral supplements are effective for good skin health, but what are these supplements and how effective are they?
Inner supplements
The first group is vitamins and minerals, important for the functioning of each organ.
Vitamins and minerals that can affect skin health include B complex, especially B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin) and B12 (cancobalamin). It is known that a real lack of vitamins B1 and B2 causes a special form of dermatitis (a type of inflammation of the skin). B12 deficiency is very detrimental to neurons and cells that divide rapidly, including skin cells.
Besides vitamin B, lack of vitamin C, iron and copper also affects skin health. All three are important for collagen synthesis, the main structural protein in the skin, which fills the skin and gives color.
Vitamin A is very important for the normal life cycle of skin cells. Vitamin A deficiency causes the skin to become dry, brittle and tend to wrinkle. On the other hand, excessive intake of vitamin A can cause serious poisoning and should be avoided.
Vitamins C and E, and beta-carotene have been mentioned as antioxidants which reduce free radicals. (Free radicals cause degeneration and skin aging). However, even though free radicals and the role of antioxidants are undoubted, clinical results have not conclusively demonstrated whether complementary vitamins and other micronutrients improve skin quality and challenge the aging process.
Excessive doses can be as dangerous as deficiencies, so it is best to meet the recommended daily allowance (RDA).
Topical help
Oral supplements must go hand in hand with topical application: sunscreen is at least SPF 30, cream (preferably with skin whitening agents) and moisturizer (preferably with skin lightening agents). Compared to topical applications, the effects of oral supplements are slower and smoother. Consumers must be realistic about their expectations, because the results will not be seen in 7 days or 2 weeks.
We recommend a holistic approach to skin health, which includes:
* A healthy and balanced diet that includes all food groups, as well as vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients.
* Maintain a happy positive mood. It has been well documented that some skin conditions, such as acne and eczema, are more common in those who experience stress.
* If you smoke, stop smoking. Smoke causes free radicals, damages the skin's microcirculation and also causes stains on the teeth and other color changes.
* Minimize sun exposure and use a good sunscreen every day.
