Before buying

Consider these points and plan your purchase according to:
Decide whether you want to repaint the entire wall or just repair the patched area. If you patch a small nail hole, you can cover the repair by applying paint touch-up with a soft cloth.

If patching a large number of holes and other damage, prepare a patched wall before repainting, especially if you choose a semi-gloss or brighter layer. The higher the brightness, the more different textures will appear between patches and paint around it.

Attention
Before starting your repair, it's important to know the location of public services in your home. Usually, an electric cable is attached to a wall stud. Find the stud on the wall before starting to cut, drill or dry the nails.

Attention
Wear protective clothing, work gloves, glasses and dust masks while working with drywall.

Small dents and bumps
Spackle brings a slight dent in drywall repairs
Get rid of the debris that escapes from the hole. Cover the holes or dents with a quick dry spatula to bring the level to the surface of the drywall and let it dry 24 hours, or the time recommended by the manufacturer's instructions. Fine sand

Broken nail head
The broken nail does not hold the bolt and back away from the dry wall, making the head of the nail peel off.

Step 1
Drive the screw under the surface of the drywall to repair damaged nails
Place the plaster screw 1 1/2 inches above the head of the nail removed on the bolt to replace the dry wall on the bolt. Immerse the screw head just below the surface of the drywall so that it can be covered with putty.

Step 2
Broken nails are now below the surface of the wall
Driving on damaged nails.

Step 3
spread the spackle on drywall repairs so that the surface is parallel to the wall
Cover the concave screw head and nail head with putty until it is parallel to the surface of the wall. Wait 24 hours or the time recommended in the manufacturer's instructions. Fine sand

Small hole
For small holes, such as those made by hooks, patch kits can be used.

Step 1
Mesh fillings in small holes in drywall
Place a self-adhesive mesh patch over the hole.

Step 2
cover patch mesh on drywall with joint compounds in cross pattern
Use a plaster knife to cover patches with lightweight joint compounds in a cross pattern, which smooths the edges together into the wall. To soften the edges, increase the pressure and angle of the gypsum blade when it reaches the outer edge of the patch area to minimize, or thin out, the compound combined on the gypsum.

Step 3
Second layer patch composite plasterboard
Let the fillings dry and apply a second layer of compound if necessary. Fine sand

Medium hole
For holes up to 6 inches, use the California patch.
Watch our DIY Basics videos: How to cut drywall?

Step 1
Cut a piece of drywall that will be a patch to repair
Cut a piece of drywall in a square that is 2 inches wider and taller than the area to be repaired.

Step 2
The back of the patch with lines drawn 1 inch from each edge
Mark the back of the drywall with a box cutter or a knife about one inch on each side.

Step 3
patches with broken plaster pieces, but the paper remains intact
Remove the tape, but leave the place in the paper intact.

Stage 4
trace around the patch part of the patch for drywall repair
Hold the patch above the hole and trace it around the plaster square. Don't include the edge of the paper in your transfer. Cut a square drawn with a plaster knife.

Attention

Before cutting, check the hole for the power cord. Usually, they are attached to the bolt.

Step 5
Apply the compound on the back of the drywall paper to attach the patch to the wall
Apply the compound together to the back of the paper edge. Place the tape in a new hole and press the edge of the paper coated with the compound along the outer edge of the hole.

Step 6
spackle that covers the entire California patch, which smoothes the edges of the drywall
Cover all fillings with compound together until the line is camouflaged, softening the edges.

Step 7
Drywall patch with two composite layers
These fillings may require two layers of compounds, with drying times between layers. Fine sand

Big hole
For holes larger than 6 inches, you will make plasterboard patches with different repair methods for repairs.
Step 1
Cut a piece of tape slightly larger than damage to the wall
Cut a piece of drywall into a square slightly larger than the hole.

Step 2
trace the edge of the plasterboard patch with a pencil
Hold the box above the hole in the gypsum and trace it around the edges.

Step 3
Cut a large hole with a plaster knife
Cut along the lines on the wall with a plaster knife.

Attention

Before cutting, check the hole for the power cord. Usually, they are attached to the bolt.

Stage 4
Tighten the strip with a drill and screw for drywall
Inside the hole, place a twist strip, a small piece of thin wood, on each side of the hole with a screw. Sink the screw under the surface of the drywall.

Step 5
secure a large patch of drywall to the strip with screws for drywall
Place the drywall patch in place and screw it to the straightening rope, sink the screw under the surface of the drywall.

Step 6
Patch plaster with tape around the stitch
Apply masking tape to the edge of the patch. The binder is made of mesh and strengthens the bond between fillings and walls, reduces movement and helps prevent future cracks.

Step 7
compound for the connection that covers the plasterboard part and mesh band
Cover patches and masking tape with joints, blurring edges. Let the compound dry according to the manufacturer's instructions. Apply the second layer if necessary. Fine sand

Patch corners
Corner edges are used where two pieces of drywall combine to form an angle. Angular cables are available in a variety of materials, including metals, paper and vinyl.
Step 1
Cutting saw arc through a broken cable angle
Cut corners from broken corners horizontally, both above and below the edge, with a hacksaw.

Step 2
A knife that connects horizontal pieces made by a hacksaw.
Use a knife to cut vertically along the drywall, connecting the top and bottom pieces of the hacksaw on the left and right sides. Remove the damaged part.

Step 3
Cut pearls from the corner to the repair area.
Cut a piece of the new flange corner to fill the space and fix it to the wall with nails or with a binder or adhesive recommended by the manufacturer.

Stage 4
apply the compound to the repair corner with a plaster knife for connection
Apply combined compounds to both sides of the corner, covering patches of beads to soften rough edges and cover seams, smoothing edges. Let dry and light sand.

Complete repairs
Step 1
sanding repair of drywall with sanding sponge
Complete all repairs with final sanding to ensure smooth satin results and a perfect blend of patches and walls.

Step 2
apply primer on the repaired gypsum panel
Cover with a primer layer, and let it dry.

Step 3
Scroll interior paint on repaired gypsum panels
Finish with paint.

Repair of textured gypsum panels
Step 1
Rigid brush bristles coated with compounds.
Sand your soft patch area. In a small bowl, mix 4 parts of the compound and 1 part of water. Dip a stiff brush into the mixture and hold it tightly to the wall, with the hairs facing up.

Step 2
development of texture in the composite shake shake area
Place the mixture on the wall with your fingers gloved on the surface of the feather. In general, the faster the movement is, the smaller the particles on the wall.

Nice to know

Practice and perfect fast movements on the memo board before applying it to your wall.

Step 3
Flatten the compound with a plaster knife to make a dented end
For taped coatings, where the trowel presses the compound downward to form a more speckled texture than the flat wall, smoothing the particles with a knife while the compound mixture begins to dry out.

Stage 4
Spray the repair area with textured spray.
As an alternative to flicking compounds, you can use textured sprays on a variety of finishes. Shake the can and spray the patch area with circular movements 6 to 18 inches from the wall.

Step 5
Texture crayon spray for factory instructions.
Let the textured compound dry according to the manufacturer's instructions, then print and paint the surface.
